New York Giants’s Odell Beckham Jr. broke his left ankle while playing against the Los Angeles Chargers. The wide receiver was carted off the field with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter, which dropped the Giants to 0-5.
Beckham was suffering from severe pain and appeared to be in tears. He was immediately taken for doing X-ray, instead of locker room. It is not confirmed whether he will undergo surgery or not. Beckham had 5 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown before being injured.
Evan Engram, the Giants tight end said, “I knew it was bad,” whereas Giants quarterback Eli Manning mentioned that “Obviously, you never want to see any receiver go down, and it looked like he was in some pain. So I just told him I’d be thinking about him. And obviously, we don’t know the severity of it, but hopefully he’ll be OK.”
Eli Apple, the cornerback of the New York Giants, was also feeling bad for the Beckham. He said, “That’s rough. He’s our best player. He’s a brother to everybody and somebody we really care about. That is kind of tough.”
There were other Giants wide receivers also who got injured during the match. Dwayne Harris suffered from broken foot in the third quarter while Sterling Shepard and Brandon Marshall got ankle injuries in the second-half. According to sources, Harris is out for the season.
Roger Lewis Jr. was the only healthy wide receiver left in the team of New York Giants in the last few minutes. Ben Ben McAdoo, the Giants coach, said, “Yeah, I mean, it significantly altered the game. We had one receiver left at the end of the ballgame.”
After losing four players, Giants were easily defeated by the Los Angeles Chargers 27-22. We hope that all four Giant wide receivers get well soon and come back to the field with great energy and excitement.
